Some thoughts about 2022:

The older I get, each trip around the sun becomes less important on its own. Plenty of things happened in 2022, but I no longer can look at that chunk of 365 days and reflect on it in a vacuum. From a child’s point of view, a year is a long stretch of time filled with momentous occasions, life altering changes, and an excitement of what’s to come next. As an adult, I see a year as a smaller piece of a much bigger whole. What came before 2022 simply set the stage for what was to become. What comes after 2022 is a reflection and continuation of the events that just occurred.

It’s difficult for me to condense 2022 into a single theme. My successes were built upon the work I’ve done in the past few years. I carry the grievances with the current state of our world, though I remain as hopeful as I can. My personal journey with mental health and grief is still in its healing phase. My aspirations are still grand, though time is still required. I’m focusing on strengthening my current relationships, rather than starting new ones. It’s all a process and the only real thing I needed from 2022 is a desire to be more in tune with that process.

It’s difficult for me to condense 2022 into a single theme. We are ever changing. Who we are, our relationships, our passions, our world — they’re all fluctuating based on compounding variables that may or may not be in our control. The person I…
